Who we are
Cymorth Cymru is the representative body for providers of housing related support, homelessness and care services in Wales. The organisation began as a steering group in 2001, became a company limited by guarantee in May 2004 and gained charitable status in 2006.
Our aims
To work with our members to help people who have experienced or are at risk of experiencing social exclusion lead happy, successful, independent lives within the community, contributing positively to the community, socially and economically. By doing so, we impact positively on health and wellbeing, economic activity and community safety and cohesion. In particular we enhance the work of members, policy makers and partners by:
Improving the links between policy and practice through ensuring those implementing policies understand the wider policy context, and those formulating polices understand and are influenced by the experiences and knowledge of those working on the ground.
Ensuring housing related support, homelessness and care services maximise their potential by building and developing capacity and professionalism through enhanced training, development and networking opportunities.
Raising awareness and understanding with the public, policy makers and partners of the contribution housing related support, homelessness and care services make to wider policy objectives.
Our objectives
- To develop consensus on key issues in housing related support, homelessness and care.
- To engage all providers in the development of policy and promoting the professionalisation agenda.
- To be the recognised voice of members with the delegated authority to engage and lobby on relevant issues.
- To develop professional support services.
- To build links, understanding and joint working across sectors and between policy makers and deliverers.
