Senior Support Worker, Bridgend Bond Board
The Wallich

Location: Bridgend
Salary: £19,566 Pro Rata

Purpose of Role:

  • To administer the Bond Board Scheme
  • To assist qualifying people with ensuring tenancies are set up in a manner that helps them to be sustainable; To liaise with landlords and other agencies
  • To ensure work is recorded and all administrative paperwork completed.


This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure.

The project operates across Bridgend working with couples or single people, with or without children, who have been referred to Bridgend Bond Board to apply for a bond to access private rented accommodation. The project is an integral part of the provision for dealing with potentially homeless single and family groups, providing a link between Bridgend Housing Department and other providers, private rented landlords and Floating Support. The project is funded through the Section 180 funding grant and is required to meet the Welsh Government’s
National Outcomes Framework.

The Framework’s four main aims are:

• Promoting Personal and Community Safety

• Promoting Independence and Control

• Promoting Economic Progress and Financial Control

• Promoting Health and Wellbeing

Senior Support Worker, Bridgend Young People's Project- MAC

Purpose of role:

  • To provide residential support that enables and empowers service users to address housing and personal difficulties and improve their ability to maintain their future or current accommodation.
  • To encourage Service Users to participate in programmes and activities that will reduce their risk of reoffending and substance misuse.
  • To encourage and support Service Users to engage with
    external agencies as appropriate including Probation and Mental Health

The support will not create or increase dependence. It will be a “do with” rather than a “do for” approach and will initially involve accompanying Service Users to appointments in order to familiarise them with an activity or appointment. Support will enable them to improve their control, understanding and involvement in dealing with the issues that affect them and assist them in achieving their preferred outcomes. In addition to assist in housing management in the project ensuring delivery of a safe, secure and effective service.

Project Description:

The Project is a residential project housing 5 young people aged 16 to 21 from across Bridgend Borough. It is staffed on a 24 hour basis. The service is a Multi Agency Complex Needs project (MAC) and the client group have a variety of needs, which can be challenging, including offending behaviour history, mental health issues and substance misuse. The aim is to provide residential support with the aim of meeting individuals needs and to promote independence and lead to a sustainable move on. The Project is funded through the Supporting People
Programme Grant and is required to meet the Welsh government’s National Outcomes Framework.

Salary: Salary £34,659 per annum Pro-rata (actual salary of £28,101.89 per annum)

To be responsible for the strategic direction and delivery of the BIG Lottery funded Men’s Sheds Cymru project and the Welsh Government’s Section 64 Third Sector Mental Health Grant funded ‘Mental Wellbeing Advocacy’ Project. The work will develop a network of a minimum of 75 Men’s Sheds across Wales and will directly benefit
at least 500 men with a focus on those who are socially isolated.


The Project Manager will be responsible for all elements of the day to day operation and coordination of both projects as well as developing the strategic position of the Men’s Sheds movement in Wales. The Project Manager will line manage and direct the Project Co-ordinator, three Regional Development Officers and two Wellbeing Advocates and will be the strategic lead for the projects in dealings with local and national government, businesses and organisations.
