Housing Support Grant Engagement Events

HSG events image - portrait.jpg

In October 2018 Welsh Government Ministers announced the decision to split the Early Intervention and Prevention Grant into two, separating the housing-related grants from non-housing elements. As a result of this decision a new Housing Support Grant will be created, encompassing the Supporting People Programme Grant, Homelessness Prevention funding and Rent Smart Wales Enforcement funding. These arrangements will come into force in April 2019 and remain in place for the remainder of this Assembly term.

As a result, the Welsh Government will be developing a new grant scheme and would like to co-produce this work involving all stakeholders from the Supporting People and Homelessness sectors. A series of engagement events have been organised in partnership by the Welsh Government and Cymorth Cymru. These will provide an opportunity for all stakeholders to feed in directly to the development process.

During these events you will be asked to share your views on the creation of the new grant mechanism, including your views on current issues and challenges, what the HSG governance needs to look like and what we need to know to make sound decisions on distribution.

Representation from all stakeholders from within the Supporting People and Homelessness sectors are welcome. The events are suited to those with a strategic understanding of the issues affecting the new grant.

Register for the engagement events here:

  • 12 February - Llandrindod Wells – register here
  • 15 February – Cardiff – register here
  • 21 February – Conwy – register here

Please note: Should the events be oversubscribed we may need to introduce a limit per organisation and will seek to establish additional dates for events to ensure we are capturing the views of as many parties as possible.

These events will not be the only mechanisms through which we seek views. Our engagement plan includes additional opportunities to engage in specific settings.  For example, to discuss the impact on Social Care through the Association of Directors of Social Services.
