North Wales Housing wins Silver Housing Association of the Year at national award

North Wales Housing picked up the Silver Award for 'Best Housing Association of the Year', at WhatHouse? Gala Luncheon at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane on Friday 20 November.

The WhatHouse? Awards is the largest and longest running showcase for the UK housing industry, with 1,750 people attending their 34th annual presentation.

The award, presented by comedian David Walliams, was open to all housing associations, large and small, with judges looking at all aspects of performance from design and build, value for money, management and marketing.

The What House judges explained why they chose North Wales Housing:

"North Wales Housing is a relatively small housing association that packs a big punch in the communities in which it works. It is everything a community-based housing association should be.

It's a great example of not always requiring the biggest resources to deliver big impacts if an organisation is focused, innovative and committed to its purpose.

North Wales Housing adds real value for its communities and its local partners and is a worthy recipient of the silver award."

Paul Diggory, Chief Executive of North Wales Housing is delighted with the win:

"Given the scale of the associations awarded gold and bronze, our success was very much against the odds. But for a business of our size we have delivered a wide range of projects and help an increasingly diverse group of people. As public resources decline Welsh Government is reliant on housing associations delivering more, but that can involve greater risk and we're often asked by local authority partners to take on difficult projects."

"Awards like this reflect the hard work that goes into developing new homes and delivering high quality services. We try to go the extra mile for partners and the pleasing aspect of this award is that it recognises the contribution of everyone who works for us. Our people know they're here to add value."

The North Wales based housing association narrowly missed out on Gold to L&Q, the largest landlord in London.
