Homelessness is a key policy area for Cymorth Cymru.

We are committed to supporting a preventative approach and working in partnership with members, policy makers and other stakeholders to prevent people from becoming homeless. This is one of our core areas of work and we represent many different providers who work with people who are homeless or at risk of losing their home.

A key part of our work in this area is focused around the Supporting People Programme which plays a crucial role in preventing homelessness in Wales, and enabling people to manage their own lives and live confidently in safe, secure homes.

  • Rough Sleepers Cymru

As part of our work around homelessness, we facilitate Rough Sleepers Cymru (RSC) - a network of organisations working with rough sleepers in Wales.

The purpose of RSC is to represent the interests of rough sleepers, share best practice and identify and campaign on key issues. Find out more

  • Networks

We represent the interests of our members and the people they support by actively contributing to government working groups, policy networks and other initiatives, such as Regional Provider Forums. Find out more about these networks.

  • Consultations

In addition to participating in these networks, we also respond to a number of consultations, inquiries and calls for evidence in collaboration with our members.

Find out more about current and past consultations in this policy area, and how you can get involved.

  • Legislation

We will use this section to keep you up to date with key legislative developments and issues that have an impact on the homelessness, housing related support and supported living sector.

The Housing (Wales) Act has made radical changes to the way in which homelessness is addressed.  A preventative approach to homelessness is rooted in the legislation, and will only be successful if we work together as providers, local authorities and other stakeholders. Cymorth Cymru has been involved in consultation, representation and training to ensure the needs of the people our members work with are met.
