Torfaen & Blaenau Gwent Mind


X is a female between the ages of 40yrs-50yrs. She was referred to Mind the end of November last year. X is fairly isolated with limited social networks. X suffers with mental health issues and is wheelchair bound due to her mobility issues. X is also alcohol dependent.

Since being referred to Torfaen and Blaenau Gwent Mind, X has received support to attend GP appointments, CAB appointments to provide debt relief, support with benefit forms ensuring appropriate benefits are in place etc. X has been assisted with Home-Seeker and Direct Match with liaison with Social Housing landlords...

Torfaen & Blaenau Gwent Mind


Client B is a 19 year old female who was referred to Torfaen and Blaenau Gwent Mind by Marie at Torfaen Volunteer Alliance (TVA) at the end of January 2016. B presented herself to TVA after an argument with her father meant she was not able to return to the family home.
B received support from Torfaen Mind and is now living independently and bidding on Homeseeker for a new property that will not be supported accommodation as she now feels ready to live without support.

Barnardo's: housing support service for singles and young families


Before being referred to Barnardo’s, Person A was in private rented accommodation, the rent was very high and had to make top up payments every month. Person A had fallen into arrears considerably and was struggling to make payments.

 

Since receiving support Person A now manages there accommodation, has set up direct debits and is confident in reporting any issues to housing association. Adref: Local Authority Tenancy Support Scheme in Merthyr Tydfil)


Referred by Merthyr Valleys Homes, Person A was supported by ADREF LTD, LATSS - Local Authority Tenancy Support Scheme (Merthyr Tydfil) as she was in rent arrears and the house was in disrepair.

 

Throughout support PERSON A was encouraged to continue with a 2nd year in college. PERSON A’s ambition in life was to become a lawyer to benefit her and the 2 children and be able to stand on her own two feet.
