Homelessness Symposium 2021
This year's Homelessness Symposium took place online on Thursday 9th December. The event had a fantastic line-up of sector leaders, researchers and policy makers, who provided insight into the latest developments, research and good practice within Wales, the UK and across the world. A huge thank you to our sponsor Crisis for their support.
The morning session focused on homelessness in Wales, with key Welsh Government officials providing a timely update on the Ending Homelessness Action Plan and outlining how the housing sector can contribute to achieving the objectives within the Race Equality Action Plan. This was followed by an exclusive session led by Crisis CEO Jon Sparkes, during which Professor Suzanne Fitzpatrick and Professor Glen Bramley shared the findings from Crisis' latest Homelessness Monitor for Wales.
In the afternoon we traveled beyond the Welsh border to hear from Ron Anderson of the Centre for Homelessness Impact, who shared the latest development from the What Works Community, which is supporting local authorities across the UK to tackle their toughest homelessness challenges. We also heard from the Lydia Stazen, the Director of the Institute for Global Homelessness, who spoke from Chicago about IGH's Vanguard Cities project, which seeks to make a meaningful impact on street homelessness in cities across the globe.
