Rapid rehousing is at the core of the Welsh Government's Phase 2 response to the Covid-19 pandemic, as Wales aims to build on the fantastic work by local authorities and their partners to get people off the streets and into safe accommodation.
A key recommendation of the Homelessness Action Group, rapid rehousing is seen as critical to our ambitions to end homelessness, and with over 2000 people in temporary accommodation, it couldn't be more timely or important.
The transition to rapid rehousing will be challenging, requiring an increased supply of truly affordable housing, access to multi-agency support and a reconfiguration of homelessness services across Wales. However, Scotland's homelessness sector has already embarked on this transition and there is lots to learn from their experience.
We are delighted to announce that two people who have been important figures in the Scottish process – Marion Gibbs of the Scottish Government and John Mills, Head of Housing Services at Fife Council – will be sharing their views and experiences of the process in order to help us to embark on this journey.
