Phase 2 homelessness response: Modern Methods of Construction

The Welsh Government has published a number of documents following its recent 'Modern Methods of Construction' web event, which was held to support local authorities and their partners to plan for phase two of Wales' response to homelessness.


Welsh Government call for private landlords to help with emergency accommodation efforts

The Welsh Government, in partnership with Rent Smart Wales, is encouraging private landlords to register their vacant properties as part of the efforts to source accommodation for people affected by homelessness during the COVID-19 pandemic. 


UK Government consultation: Employment rights for domestic abuse survivors

The UK Government has launched a review of employment rights for survivors of domestic abuse. This includes a call for written evidence from stakeholders, on the specific employment needs of domestic abuse survivors, and how they are met by current employment rights and practices. 


Welsh Government toolkit for critical worker employers 

The Welsh Government has created a toolkit and assets for critical worker employers to communicate the Test, Trace, Protect strategy. This includes:

  • printable and digital posters
  • social assets
  • digital banners
  • example copy
  • an explainer video
  • an image bank

Welsh Government: Weekly testing update 

The Welsh Government has published its weekly testing information and has updated its information on regional testing facilities.

The Welsh Government has published new guidance on contact tracing, including:


Chief Medical Officer: Advice on face coverings

The Chief Medical Officer for Wales has published his latest advice on on medical masks and face coverings for the general public. 


Welsh Government: Medical masks in health and social care settings

The Minister for Health and Social Services has published a written statement about the use of medical masks in health and social care settings. The Welsh Government has also published a series of FAQs on this issue. 


Welsh Government guidance: Rehabilitation of people affected by the impact of COVID-19

The Welsh Government has published guidance on the rehabilitation needs of people affected by the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. This includes:

  • People post Covid-19: those recovering from extended time in critical care and hospital and those with prolonged symptoms of Covid-19 recovering in the community
  • People awaiting paused urgent and routine planned care who have further deterioration in their function
  • People avoiding accessing services during the pandemic who are now at risk of harm e.g. disability and ill-health
  • Socially isolated/shielded groups where the lockdown is leading to decreased levels of activity and social connectivity, altered consumption of food, substance misuse, the loss of physical and mental wellbeing and thus increased health risk

The British Psychological Society: Reducing the likelihood of secondary trauma 

The British Psychological Society has published new guidance ‘Taking Trauma Related Work Home: Advice for Reducing the Likelihood of Secondary Trauma’. This recommends a step by step approach for organisations whose employees are at risk of vicarious trauma while working from home during the Covid-19 pandemic. 


Substance use: Barod launches new Live Webchat service

Barod has launched a brand new Live Webchat service, which is the first of its kind for substance misuse in Wales. Trained support workers provide information, advice or support to people affected by their own or someone else’s substance use. It is open to professionals as well as the general public. 


Money Advice Service: Coronavirus support

The Money Advice Service has created Coronavirus support web pages in Welsh and English, where they have collated a range of information and advice about Coronavirus and other issues, such as debt, housing costs and redundancy and support entitlements. 


WCVA webinar: PPE considerations for voluntary organisations resuming services

This webinar will help voluntary organisations in Wales that are considering restarting their services.  Aimed for those who are unsure of what Personal Protective Equipment  is needed, how they can source it and gain a better understanding of the key infection and control measures and types of PPE.
