New COVID-19 testing strategy for Wales

The Welsh Government has published a new COVID-19 testing strategy for Wales. This has been accompanied by a written statement from the Minister for Health and Social Services. 


Welsh Government guidance: Taking all reasonable measures to minimise the risk of exposure to coronavirus in workplaces  

The Welsh Government has updated its guidance to assist people in understanding what “taking all reasonable measures” means and what measures should be taken to minimise the risk of exposure. 


Welsh Government: All passengers to wear face coverings on public transport

The First Minister has announced that face coverings will become compulsory for everyone travelling on public transport in Wales from Monday July 27. 


Hospital visiting during the coronavirus outbreak: guidance effective from 20 July 2020

The Welsh Government has published updated guidance about hospital visiting and accompanying people to healthcare appointments, effective from 20 July. 


COVID-19 BAME Advisory Group: potential impact of COVID-19

The COVID-19 BAME Advisory Group has published a report which summarises the evidence available to the group on the potential effects of COVID-19 on ethnic minorities up to 19 June 2020. It will be updated regularly as new evidence is published. 


Welsh Government statement: £30million for new, energy efficient social housing

The Minister for Finance has published a written statement about temporary changes to Land Transaction Tax in response to COVID-19. As part of this announcement, the Minister revealed that £30million would be invested in new, energy efficient social housing. 


Welsh Government report: Impact of COVID-19 on registered social landlords 

The Welsh Government has published a report about how housing associations have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic, including the impact on health and safety, voids, arrears, care and support, and financial viability. 


Welsh Government legislative programme: Renting Homes (Amendment) (Wales) Bill  

Earlier today the First Minister updated Members of the Senedd about its legislative programme. The First Minister confirmed that scrutiny of the Renting Homes (Amendment) (Wales) Bill will recommence in the autumn. 


Funding opportunity: COVID-19 Homelessness Response Fund 

As part of Homeless Link's COVID-19 Homelessness Response Fund, Comic Relief has provided £680,000 for charities based in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The funding aims to provide emergency financial assistance to local homelessness organisations, preventing closure, service cuts or staff redundancies threatened by increased operational costs and a loss of fundraised income due to the Coronavirus. It will also support organisations that have needed to expand or adapt their services in light of COVID-19 to support people experiencing homelessness safely and effectively. 


Funding opportunity: Crisis launches Home for All programme

Crisis has launched its Home For All programme, which will provide grants of between £20,000 and £100,000 to organisations that wish to embrace a housing-led and transformational approach to ending homelessness.
