Welsh Government: COVID-19 guidance 

The Welsh Government continues to update its guidance about the national COVID-19 restrictions that are in place following the firebreak.

The Welsh Government had also published downloadable posters in Welsh and English that you can display to inform staff, tenants and people using services about the current rules. 

The Welsh Government has also updated the following guidance: 


COVID-19 Vaccine

The Chief Medical Officer for Wales has welcomed the news that a COVID-19 vaccine could be ready this year but has warned “that these are very early days”.

The Minister for Health and Social Services has also published a written statement about Covid-19 vaccine deployment in Wales. 


Technical Advisory Cell: Summary of advice - 6 November 2020

The Welsh Government's Technical Advisory Cell has published a summary of its COVID-19 advice to Ministers from the 6th November. 


Technical Advisory Cell: Review of the evidence on children and young people in education after the firebreak

The Welsh Government's Technical Advisory Cell has published its evidence review on children and young people in preschool, school or college following the firebreak. 


£500 self-isolation payment scheme

The Welsh Government's £500 self-isolation scheme for people on low incomes is now open. The new self-isolation payment scheme has been designed to encourage people to stay-at-home by removing any financial barriers to self-isolating. The scheme is open to anyone receiving Universal Credit and other specified benefits, who has to self-isolate because they have coronavirus or have been told to by Test Trace Protect. 

The Welsh Government has published guidance for this scheme which includes information about eligibility and how to apply.

People who are eligible can apply through the local authority by following the links on the Welsh Government website

The Welsh Government has also published a privacy statement, which outlines how people's personal data will be used to deliver the self-isolation support scheme.

Easy read guidance: Supported Living

Following the publication of the Welsh Government's guidance for Learning Disability Supported Living settings, an easy read version of the guidance has now been published.

Letter from devolved governments about Universal Credit 

The Welsh Government's Deputy Minister for Housing and Local Government has joined Ministers from Scotland and Northern Ireland in writing to the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions to ask the UK Government to:

  • Work with the devolved nations to create a benefit take-up strategy.
  • Make permanent the current £20 a week increase for Universal Credit (UC) and extend it to the benefits which will eventually be replaced by UC, such as Income Based Jobseekers Allowance.
