Review of the Health Protection (Coronavirus Restriction) (No.5) (Wales) Regulations 2020 

Today the First Minister published a written statement following the latest three-week review of the regulations, confirming that Wales will remain at Alert Level 4. 

The Chief Medical Officer has also published a statement outlining his support for this decision. 

All of the guidance for Alert Level 4 can be found on the Welsh Government website.

COVID-19 Vaccine updates

This week the Minister for Health and Social Services provided an update on COVID-19 vaccinations to the Senedd and answered questions from opposition spokespeople and backbenchers. The Welsh Government also published its COVID-19 vaccination programme weekly update (26 January).

The Welsh Government has also updated its COVID-19 vaccination strategy, as well as publishing guidance for people about getting the vaccine and a COVID-19 vaccination centres map

Guidance for people in the shielding group

The Minister for Health and Social Services has published a written statement about the extension to the shielding advice. Welsh Government has updated the following guidance: 

  • Guidance on protecting people defined on medical grounds as clinically extremely vulnerable from coronavirus 
  • Easy read guidance on protecting people most likely to get very poorly from coronavirus 
  • FAQs: Protecting people defined on medical grounds as extremely vulnerable from coronavirus

Updated guidance: Supported Living

The Welsh Government has updated its COVID-19 Supported Living guidance to reflect today’s announcements about changes to support bubble arrangements. 


Longer term effects of COVID 19

The Minister for Health and Social Services published a written statement about action to support people experiencing longer term effects of COVID-19.

The Welsh Government has also announced the launch of a bilingual COVID recovery app, which has been designed to offer people a bespoke tool and personal coach to help them on their road to recovery. 


Managing risk in workplaces: Updated section on risk assessments

The Welsh Government has updated its statutory guidance on managing the risk of COVID-19 in workplaces, which has a new section covering risk assessments. 


Coronavirus housing advice campaign

The Welsh Government has published promotional materials that organisations can print out or use on their digital channels as part of their coronavirus housing advice campaign. This includes leaflets, social media images and animations.
