Upcoming changes

On Friday the First Minister published a written statement outlining the following plans to ease restrictions in Wales:

From 21 January

  • there will no longer be any legal limits on the number of people that can meet outdoors
  • COVID Pass needed for large outdoor events

From 28 January

  • nightclubs will be able to re-open
  • COVID Pass needed for large indoor events, nightclubs, cinemas, theatres and concert halls
  • working from home remains important but moves from law to guidance
  • in hospitality, no restrictions on meeting people and no requirement for table service or 2 metre physical distancing 

Current Welsh Government guidance

The following guidance remains in place until these changes come into force:

This week the Welsh Government has been questioned about whether it will follow England and reduce the self-isolation period from 7 days to 5 days. The Chief Medical Officer and First Minister have said they will consider the evidence provided by Public Health Wales this week and make a decision based on this information. 

Registering Lateral Flow Test results

The Welsh Government has asked us to remind everyone about the importance of reporting your lateral flow test results, regardless of whether you test positive or negative. 

Changes to Tenancy Hardship Fund

On 12th January the Minister for Climate Change published a written statement about the Tenancy Hardship Fund, outlining the following changes:

  • The grant is being extended to include all social housing tenants who were not in receipt of housing-related benefits when they built up Covid-related rent arrears.
  • The current eligibility period for arrears will be extended to include Covid-related arrears built up between 1 July 2021 and 31 December 2021.

COVID-19 Vaccination update

The Minister for Health and Social Services has published a written statement about the latest progress against the delivery of the vaccination strategy. The Welsh Government has also published the COVID-19 vaccination programme weekly update for 11 January 2022.
