Exciting opportunity to join research project

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled researcher to work with Cymorth Cymru and Cardiff Metropolitan University to deliver a new 18 month research project. This project seeks to evidence the financial and human impact of homelessness and housing-related support services in Wales. Funded by Cymorth Cymru and the Oak Foundation, this is an exciting opportunity to work with a third sector and university partnership to influence future government policy, practice and funding decisions.

Supervision and guidance from Cardiff Metropolitan University: The project is being led by a team of academics from Cardiff Metropolitan University, who are responsible for delivering this research in line with the project specification. The Lead Researcher will provide the Research Officer with guidance and supervision throughout the project. Once appointed, the Research Officer will work closely with the Lead Researcher to coordinate the collection and collation of quantitative and qualitative data, conduct analysis and contribute to report writing in order ensure the achievement of the project deliverables.

Located at Cymorth Cymru: The post holder will be based at the Cymorth Cymru office in Cardiff, working alongside Cymorth’s Director, Policy and External Affairs Manager, and Policy and Communications Officer. They will support the Research Officer to develop their knowledge of the sector and identify potential sources of data. They will also facilitate engagement between the Research Officer and a wide variety of people working in the housing-related support sector across Wales, as well as other relevant stakeholders such as local authority staff and Welsh Government officials.

This is an interesting and valuable opportunity to work with a sector which is keen to collaborate with researchers to demonstrate its impact on people’s lives and the public purse. We would like to hear from people who are interested in using their research skills and expertise to influence policy and practice – and therefore the lives of people using homelessness and housing-related support services in Wales.
