#Senedd21 - Make your voice heard

The Welsh General Election takes place on Thursday 6th May 2021 and the people of Wales will elect 60 Members of the Senedd. Following the election, a new Welsh Government will be formed and Ministers will be appointed to make decisions about housing, health, social care and other devolved policy areas over the next five years.

The next Welsh Government has a huge opportunity to build on the sector’s incredible efforts during the pandemic and to ensure that everyone in Wales has a safe, secure and affordable home, free from abuse. Incoming Ministers will have the chance to set Wales on a path to end homelessness and ensure that people have the support they need to live independently in their own homes and thrive in their communities.

Manifesto FC - E.jpgOver the past few months, Cymorth Cymru has listened to the views of our members and written a manifesto which sets out our priorities for the next Welsh Government. The manifesto includes five key ‘asks’ for election candidates and political parties:

  1. Implement the Homelessness Action Group recommendations
  2. Protect and increase the Housing Support Grant
  3. Deliver 20,000 energy efficient social homes
  4. Recognise and reward homelessness and support workers
  5. Improve access to mental health services

But we need your help!

While Cymorth Cymru will continue to advocate for these issues at a national level, we know that your contributions on a local level will be just as important. Political candidates are more likely to act if they can see how an issue will affect people in their own constituencies - and there are lots of ways you can get involved.

Campaign pack

We have put together a campaign pack in Welsh and in English with some information and resources to help you to make your voice heard over the coming weeks. You can use this with people using your services to communicate the importance of the manifesto asks.

Candidate information

We have collated a list of candidates who are standing in constituencies and regions across Wales in the Senedd elections - so you can get in touch with them and share our campaign messages.

Comparing the parties' policy commitments

We have produced a comparison of the policy commitments made by the main political parties standing in the Senedd elections and looked at how closely these align with the five ‘asks’ that we included in our manifesto.

Here are some printable A4 signs for supporters - take a photo of people holding them and share on social media! We've also produced a sign for election candidates - encourage them to print these out and share on social media too.

Campaign graphics for social media

Here are some campaign graphics that you can download and use on social media to show your support - don't forget to tag your candidates in the tweets!
