Referred by Merthyr Valleys Homes, Person A was supported by ADREF LTD, LATSS - Local Authority Tenancy Support Scheme (Merthyr Tydfil) as she was in rent arrears and the house was in disrepair. Throughout support PERSON A was encouraged to continue with a 2nd year in college. PERSON A's ambition in life was to become a lawyer to benefit her and the 2 children and be able to stand on her own two feet.
PERSON A was referred to Adref Floating Support via the local housing association Merthyr Valleys Homes as she was in rent arrears and the house was in disrepair. PERSON A is a single parent with two young children, one school age, the other preschool. PERSON A liaised well with social services, the housing association and Adref's Tenancy Support Officer (TSO) floating support, to prevent eviction.
The TSO assisted PERSON A to budget more effectively and set up a cleaning rota to support with weekly and daily cleaning activities. Once arrears and cleaning rotas were sustainable PERSON A started to focus on her education, PERSON A enrolled herself in college. The TSO assisted PERSON A in obtaining a child care space in the college nursery to enable her to enrol on the course. PERSON A completed a year in college and is planning on returning to complete the second year.
