Barnardo's: housing support service for singles and young families

Before being referred to Barnardo's, Person A was in private rented accommodation, the rent was very high and had to make top up payments every month. Person A had fallen into arrears considerably and was struggling to make payments.

Since receiving support Person A now manages there accommodation, has set up direct debits and is confident in reporting any issues to housing association. Person A is now engaging in support groups, attending college and is applying for nursery for her daughter and getting in and has expressed that they now feel part of the Community.

Set up direct debits, reporting any issues to housing association, engaging in support groups, worked with other tenants to develop garden space, applying for nursery for her daughter and getting in.

Budget planning, Payment plans, setting up direct debits, applied for nursery for daughter and has started, applied for and started college, attends groups run by Barnardo's

  • Physically Healthy / Mentally Healthy / Leading a Healthy, Active Lifestyle

Walks everywhere and takes daughter to park regularly, speaks to project worker about concerns and worries, manages all her own medication and doctor's appointments, eats a well balanced diet.

Future plans

Since completing training tenancy, Person A is waiting for a property to be offered so that she can move herself and child into a secure home.
