At our annual Housing First Wales conference in August, we were really excited to feature a session on our new ‘reflective exercise’, which takes place a few years after a project has been awarded the Housing First Wales Accreditation. The aim of this exercise is to encourage ongoing reflection from the project beyond the accreditation process, using the recommendations as a series of prompts.
The Conwy and Denbighshire Housing First project received accreditation in mid 2020 – the first service to do so. We subsequently devised a reflective exercise to take place several years after this initial awarding, which involves Cymorth Cymru and the Housing First team working together to look back at the original recommendations, and to identify particular areas of practice to focus on going forward.
The report can be downloaded here, and we’ve also made the conference session available to watch below. In this informal half-hour session, Cymorth Cymru Director Katie Dalton hosts a chat between Abi Williams, leader of the Housing First team undergoing the accreditation process, and Alex Osmond, Cymorth’s Housing First Manager. Katie asks questions to Abi and Alex about their experience of the process, as well as its aims and outcomes.
