Social Care Survival: Report calls for increased social care funding in 2026/27

Cymorth Cymru, Care Forum Wales and Homecare Association have published ‘Social Care Survival‘, a report that outlines the significant financial pressures facing commissioned social care services in Wales, and the need to increase funding, transparency and accountability in the Welsh Government’s budget for 2026/27.

The report highlights the critical role that social care services play in keeping people safe, supported and well, preventing people from going into hospital, and helping people to live dignified and fulfilled lives. It also highlights the impact of historic underfunding, the challenges posed by the roll-out of the Real Living Wage commitment, the increase in National Insurance costs, and the likely impact on services if they do not receive a sufficient increase in funding.

This report has been circulated to Members of the Senedd, to aid their scrutiny of the Welsh Government’s Draft Budget for 2026/27.
