Homes For All Cymru Statement: Safe, welcoming and well-informed communities

Cymorth Cymru is a member of Homes For All Cymru, the voice of the housing and homelessness sector in Wales – a third-sector partnership of organisations working together to ensure that everyone in Wales can access a safe, secure and genuinely affordable home.

We are a proud to support the following statement from Homes For All Cymru:

As the collective voice of third-sector housing and homelessness organisations in Wales, Homes for All Cymru is united in our commitment to supporting safe, welcoming and well-informed communities. Every day, our member organisations see people of all backgrounds and beliefs impacted by the housing emergency and contributing to communities where they live. At a time when many people are feeling anxious or unsure, clear information and kindness matter more than ever.

Right now, we know that the public debate around housing, migration and support services can be complex and sometimes confusing. People deserve access to accurate facts so they can form their own views with confidence. As organisations working across Wales to address the housing emergency, we will continue to share clear, accessible information and to be open about the challenges our communities face. With many years of combined experience, we know that the pressures people are feeling today have grown from decades-long undersupply of housing and wider system challenges, and that lasting solutions depend on addressing these real causes, rather than on simplistic or stigmatising narratives. We remain guided by the belief that access to a safe and secure home is a right for everyone.

We also recognise that misinformation can create uncertainty and anxiety across our communities, not least for ethnic minority people and others who may already experience inequalities or feel less visible in public debate. Our shared commitment to fairness and anti-racism means we are committed to standing alongside everyone in our communities so that people feel respected, supported and safe in their homes, workplaces and neighbourhoods.

Going forward, we will continue to work together to make sure people can access clear, accurate information, to challenge misinformation calmly and constructively, and to be open and transparent about what we do and why. In doing so, and in upholding our commitment to fairness and anti-racism, we aim to support confident, well-informed and kind communities across Wales.
