Housing related support and supported living are key areas of policy interest for Cymorth Cymru.

Housing related support and supported living services help people to live as independently as they can, or move on to independent living. Many different groups of people benefit from these services, including:

  • older people in need of support
  • people with mental health problems
  • homeless people
  • women at risk of domestic violence
  • people with substance misuse problems
  • offenders
  • young people and teenage parents
  • people with physical or sensory disabilities
  • people with learning disabilities

There are many providers in Wales who provide housing-related support and supported living services. Cymorth Cymru represents their voices and works to champion improvements in this area.

A key part of our work in this area is focused around the Supporting People Programme - a flagship programme from Welsh Government that supports more than 60,000 people each year to maximise their independence.

Support is distinct from personal care, but provides a complement to health and social care services.
